INKLING was conceived in 2009 by the Printmakers’ Network of Southern New England as an educational outreach program designed to benefit hospitalized children and provide a valuable outlet for creative expression. The inaugural program took place in 2011 in the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Hands-on workshops in various printmaking techniques are presented and followed up with an exhibition of the work created. Since 2011 PNSNE has brought the INKLING programs not only to children’s hospitals, but also to adults in outpatient clinics and art therapy majors at Connecticut College.
The INKLING workshop and exhibits foster interaction between participants of all ages and the PNSNE artists as the share dialogue about the meaning and inspiration behind their images.
